Tudor Festival at Stretton Watermill 6th & 7th July

Stretton Watermill is inviting visitors to step back in time to experience an Elizabethan country fair.  A special event on the weekend of Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th July will recreate life in 1596 when the lease of the mill was taken over by Ursula Leche of nearby Carden Hall.

Musicians will be playing Tudor tunes on a range of fascinating period instruments.  A storyteller will share folk tales for all ages and a herbalist will reveal some country cures for ailments.  The sergeant of the local militia will also be looking out for troublemakers, with offenders being placed in the stocks!

Costumed millers will also demonstrate the ancient working machinery and grind wheat into flour.

The event runs from 12 noon - 5pm each day and the great news is admission is completely free!

Stretton Watermill is near Farndon, just off the A534 by the Cock o’Barton.  The postcode is SY14 7JA.  You can find more information on the watermill’s website.
